God on the Move in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is often characterised as the one of the least religious societies in Europe. However, we believe that God hasn’t given up on our nation –  that He is on the move!

Last year 24-7 Prayer in the Czech Republic decided to make a step of faith and enter a brand-new season.

We were motivated by T. D. Jakes who said:

“Dream something so big and so amazing that it gets you out of your comfort zone and it scares you to death. “

When we noticed that 24-7 in another country had used a mobile prayer room, we felt led to try it here. We decided to employ someone full time to launch a prayer and mission ministry, and that’s how Czech Republic’s prayer caravan was born!

Our aim is to love people and be witnesses of Jesus Christ. With the caravan, we wanted to challenge ourselves to step out of our comfortable “church zones” and meet people on the streets.

We wanted to be present and available. Our desire was that people would experience God´s love, kindness and encounter Jesus Himself. We wanted to offer listening ears, prayers, bibles and last but not least, good coffee and refreshment.

Just before the launch, my mind was full of questions. Would we find enough volunteers? How would people respond? What about the weather?

We have experienced God as Jehovah Jireh – our provider. We have been blown away by the number of responsive people who shared their lives and prayed with us.

We visited 11 places between May – September – cities, camps and festivals, praying or talking with hundreds of people! Our prayer was that God would do a new thing – and bring new life through our conversations.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

    Isaiah 43,18-19

It was encouraging to see how God kept sending us people who were ready to pray and hear the good news from us, and we deeply appreciated every opportunity to engage with these people.  One story that struck me particularly was encountering a man who was about to commit suicide. Instead, he prayed to find new life in Jesus.

I am also grateful that people from around the whole country came to serve with us. It is one of my favourite things to see people from various churches and cities, willing to work together for Jesus and growing personally in their faith, confidence and gifts.

We can’t wait to see what God has prepared next for us!
